Well, that was eventful.

I'm back at home after being in hospital.

@robotfriend my feelings exactly.

Long road to recovery, but I should return to mostly full speed.

@chigh oof, sounds like a rough time but good to hear you're making it back

@Flamingsword I had (have) and aortic dissection, type b. I’m told it is minor, but I won’t have more detail until I visit a vascular surgeon. For now, I am not allowed to do much, but keep my blood pressure low. I can only guess that over the past 8 months it took a fairly steep upwards curve. Before we left the States, it had been creeping up, but wasn’t out of the normal range.

@chigh
So you are not okay, but you will be okay after they open up your chest and do surgery? Fucking ow!

I am glad you are in Canada, where it is possible that this will not bankrupt you. Even if you are not a citizen, their healthcare is cheaper than ours.

Take care of yourself, man.

@Flamingsword As of right now, no surgery necessary. Would like to keep it that way.

Yeah, because I'm on a work permit and live here, I'm on the provincial health care plan. *whew* ;-)

Thank you!!

Below the thunders of the upper deep,
Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,
His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides; above him swell
Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous and secret cell
Unnumber'd and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the lumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages, and will lie
Battening upon huge sea-worms in his sleep,
Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.
— "The Kraken" by Alfred Lord Tennyson, 1830

This is Squid Café, a special (to me) Mastodon instance.

It is not focused on any particular niche interest, however, I am a fountain pen user/collector, hence the semi-related "squid" name. (Squid. Ink. Get it?) Also... Cephalopods. Analog/digital photography, science. It’s all good. Everyone is welcome as long as you follow the code of conduct.

Bow to your cephalopod overloards!
